Working with the Community
We are committed to being an active member of the communities in which we operate.
- We Engage. Over the last three years, we have initiated and participated in more than 70 community engagement activities including town hall meetings, advisory group meetings, community open houses and meetings with individual stakeholders.
- We listen. Plans for Centre 4800 have been adjusted based on feedback, including adding kitchens to all suites and providing a variety of one and two bedroom suite layouts. The total number of suites has also been reduced by 34 per cent from 120 to 79. Along the way, Thorncliffe Greenview and Highland Park community members provided input that has shaped our plans for Centre 4800. In addition to opening up retail and commercial space to service the community, we will remove a large swath of asphalt all along Nose Creek, create a large plaza, widen the Edmonton Trail sidewalk, modernize and consolidate the waste and recycling areas, and plant 70 new trees and hundreds of new shrubs.
- We are good neighbours. While waiting to finalize our draft good neighbour agreement with the Thorncliffe Greenview Community Association, we have committed to working with partners such as the Calgary Homeless Foundation.
